Honda Amaze Engine And MAF Sensor
While servicing my Honda Amaze Diesel (2019), I disconnected the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor connector to inspect it. I accidentally sprayed regular WD-40 Multi-Use Product on the connector pins and socket before realizing that it is not recommended for electrical contacts.
After reconnecting the MAF sensor, the engine started smoothly and idled normally, but the Check Engine Light (CEL) remained ON for about two minutes. There was no loss of power, no rough idle, and no unusual engine noise.
After driving the car for approximately 20 minutes under normal conditions, the Check Engine Light turned OFF automatically. This confirmed that the ECU had detected a temporary MAF signal interruption while the connector was disconnected and cleared the warning after receiving normal sensor readings during the drive cycle.

Never use regular WD-40 Multi-Use Product on a MAF sensor or its electrical connector.
Use a dedicated MAF Sensor Cleaner or a residue-free Electrical Contact Cleaner.
Avoid touching the delicate sensing element inside the MAF sensor.
If the engine starts and runs normally, a temporary Check Engine Light may clear automatically after several minutes of driving.
If the warning light remains ON, scan the vehicle with an OBD-II scanner to read the stored fault code before replacing any parts.

In my case, the vehicle required no repairs. The Check Engine Light disappeared after about 20 minutes of normal driving because the ECU confirmed that the MAF sensor was operating correctly again.
This experience shows that a temporary MAF connector interruption does not always indicate a faulty sensor. Always diagnose the issue carefully before replacing expensive components.
